William R. Schucany

Bill Schucany, Professor of Statistical Science in Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences, received his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from the University of Texas and his Doctor of Philosphy from SMU. He began teaching at SMU in 1970, serving three terms as department chair and mentoring 30 doctoral students throughout his career. His professional honors include being named Fellow of the American Statistical Association and of the International Statistics Institute, and receiving the ASA Founders Award and the Paul Minton Service Award from the Southern Regional Council on Statistics. He has received approximately $2 million in research grants and contracts. He retires as Professor Emeritus of Statistical Science.
